When I was younger I didn't mind cleaning. Ok, that's not true, I did mind. I'm sure I pouted and whined and generally made a nuisance of myself, but I did my chores and that was that. I got a little older and both of my parents were working. In the summers I could have my days to myself as long as I got all my chores done, so I would deny myself food and fun until it was all done, then I'd eat and then retire to my room to read. So somewhere along the line cleaning equaled ...

My brother Brett has come to live in Michigan. He is staying with me now and is in the process of looking for a job in the automotive industry (although he says he'll take anything). Once he's settled in he'll get his own place, but so far he's actually been quite helpful around the house so there is no tension and no wondering when he'll move out. I'm sure he'd rather have his own place anyway, so I'm not concerned on this score. The podcast ( www.poweruser.tv ) seems to be doing well, and ...
The PowerUser gang makes use of their new equipment this week and brings you the following topics: CES wrap up (what we saw, what was cool. It’s 1080p in case you were wondering). About Podcasting in General Some of you know I host and produce a podcast called “ PowerUser.tv ” sponsored by Neowin.net , WinCustomize.com and QuarterToThree.com . I have come to realize that there are still many people who do not understand podcasting in general, and in order to help out some of our would-be listeners I wanted to put together this very brief article about this new entertainment media. I’m planning on more of these in the future…we’ll see. ...
If you’ve been listening to the show then you already know that PowerUser.tv (Brad and Kristin) will be podcasting from CES. Are you going to be there? If so, stop by and see us! We will be at the Windows Community Booth which is located in the Microsoft Pavilion under a tree (yes, a tree) and near one of the major walkways that surrounds the pavilion. Our recording times are: Thursday, January 5 at 3:30 pm and Friday, January 6 at 2:30 pm If you are there, co...
Here are the first pictures of my new niece. Here's an odd thing: I was talking to our PR guy in Canada via IM yesterday. I mentioned that my sister had a baby that morning and could we send out a press release (haha). He said, "Really? My sister had a baby too". Seemed very odd at the time, although I'm sure a statistician wouldn't have been surprised. His sister's baby was over 10 pounds... that's surprising. Anyway, welcome to planet Earth Tom's new nephew Ben Daniel and my niece J...
My sister gave birth to an 8 pound 2 ounce girl born December 6, 2005 at roughly 8 am Mountain time. They forwent naming her Snarla (which would have been my pick) in favor of Jadyn Renee. Welcome little one. Good luck to you.
I have done it! I have created the JoeUser Frappr. (Hopefully there wasn't already one...I did a search and didn't see it.) In any event, you can add yourself by following the link below. Information about Frappr (plagiarized from their website): Frappr was created by Brian, Kun and James at Rising Concepts, who wanted to see where all their high school and college friends went after they graduated. Frappr (Friend Mapper) lets you see the zip code where your friends live or work, le...
[Sorry for those of you who clicked on this expecting something good. You won't find anything like quality here. Just trying to keep in touch with the people who care about the minutia of my life. Move along please.] Today I've made a terrible realization. I've fought against it all my life but today I can no longer deny what I now know to be true about myself. I officially like coffee. It took me 33 years, but what was once a bitter flavor to be abhorred is now some...
I should have written this on Sunday, but I was paralyzed from the neck down. On Sunday I got up at 5 am, got ready, and Paul and I drove down to downtown Detroit . I got there just about in time to line up for the race. I use the term “race” in its loosest sense as I had no intention of winning or even racing anyone anywhere. Thank goodness I was only running the ½ marathon. Apparently there were over 10,000 of us lined up along the street. When the sta...
In ages past ('bout 15 yrs ago), when man flew across the nation he could expect a meal to be served. Occasionally this meal was even hot, and might consist of a chicken dish, mashed potatoes and a vegetable. Somewhere along the way, the airlines decided it was cheaper to offer the ubiquitous "snack box". Don't get me wrong, the snack box is highly superior to the previous "chicken" and side dishes of dubious nature. For a mere 3$ a person can now purchase $1.50 worth of...
Dear TLC’s “What Not To Wear”: I admit it; I watch your show quite often. It’s one of the few things I do that I can classify as exclusively indulging my feminine side – the side that wants to look pretty. Previously my philosophy has been that the way I dress has no bearing on the way I work or interact with other people, yet I also believe that they way I feel inside makes an enormous difference in my chances of success in work and relationships. Since I st...
Well, the official announcement has been made. We have launched our podcast. I could sit here and talk about all of the things that are negative, or rave about the positive, but I think I'd rather you made up your own minds. Want to hear Tom Chick and Brad Wardell and I talk about the "Hot Coffee" mod? Who doesn't?! Get on over to www.PowerUser.tv and take a listen to the various segments available. We will be instituting forums on the website soon, but until then feel free to leav...
We have been seeing several articles lately that indicate a number of you are having a problem connecting to JU. Personally, I would wither away and die without JU, so we understand your pain and want to get these issues cleared up if possible. If you or someone you know is having a problem connecting, please respond here and tell us EXACTLY what the error message is (include a screenshot if you want to) and when you started having the trouble, and any other information you think is pertinen...
