The news is not bad, but it is the same.
She is still having vasospasms - narrowing of the arteries within the brain, potentially restricting blood flow. The doctors say she may have had more angiograms than anyone they’ve seen before. This is good in that they are not waiting until something bad happens before they react.
Yesterday we had heard that she might be “turning a corner”, but today it would appear that there is still concern around the vasospasms. Monday will be day 14, which should in theory be the last “dangerous” day, but things never work out quite the way we want them to.
So basically, she’s the same as she was 3 days ago.
I write this because Monday is my first day back at work in a week and a half. Everyone has been so wonderful and helpful to me, but I don’t think I can bear to re-hash all the details with each individual who wants an update. Everyone deserves an update, but I can only talk about it so many times before I lose my mind. So I’ll be putting a note on my door that says “thank you all very much for your concern, but I really don’t want to talk about it. She’s the same as she was last week” and I will log on to IRC as “Cordelia_IDon’tWantToTalkAboutIt” and I will probably have to spend the first 4 hours of the day cleaning up e-mail and figuring out what I missed last week.
Thank you all for your concern, your good thoughts and your best wishes. It helps more than you know. But now I have to pretend to get back to work. I have to try and focus. Try.
