Take an alternative approach to Windows
Published on December 9, 2004 By Cordelia In WinCustomize News

Popular skin designers Skinplant, creators of the “Hulk” and “Spider-Man” Skinpacks, have created a new Skinpack for those of you who want to personalize your PC. Unorthodox allows you to view your Windows environment in a whole new way!

Check out the “Dissident”, “Anomaly”, and “Hi-Fidelity” and other skins that can give Windows XP the look of the PocketPC, TabletPC, or other radical designs. It's only $9.95 and it's well worth it and looks fantastic on your desktop.

The wall in the PocketPC preview is called Bliss and is on this page: http://www.wstaylor.net/WinLH.htm

The wall in the Dissident preview is here, however I recolored it green and can't redistribute that: http://www.depthcore.com/v4/fullview.php?id=640

The wall in the Anomaly preview is here, and the wall in the TabletPC preview is just a recolored version of it. http://myweb.absa.co.za/errolla/pics/pantherblue.jpg

ok thanks men but the recolored version can't you just post it as well as hippy is going to post it it's that i would like to have it to like in carbonix the walls were inclueded thanks!

With the exception of High-Fidelity, the rest are just random wallpapers I had on my computer. Recoloring them and posting them would be a copyright violation. Hippy made the Hi-Fidelity wallpaper, so he can do whatever he wants with that.

Hi All,
I am really sorry to say; I am/was really disappointed with this purchase. In the previews the themes all looked great, but, I had expected there would be subskins for each with the min/max/close buttons on the right (Top) side (normal?). I guess I should have looked more closely, and even asked prior to purchasing them. Any chance of subskins? If not, Well, a donation to the Communtiy I guess.
Don't misunderstand, the themes are all Great! I just wish I could use them/one.

there is a bug on the start menu on pocket pc. but like the skins.

Some skins in this package aren't my favorite and I think could have used some more work. TabletPC however I like very much and it is a great skin. For anyone wanting to see the power of WB vs Msstyles I suggest getting his pack. It shows you the things that WB can do that Msstyles can't.

Great pack guys, very strange but that's what makes it special Haven't lived with each skin yet, using Anomaly for a while to see how it fits.

What does the little down point arrow on the top, far right side do? Nothing happens when I click once, when I click twice the app closes.
on Dec 11, 2004
Thanks, werewolf. The down arrow opens the system menu, instead of a window icon.

I still haven't gotten an answer on the chance of subskin(s)... Do I take that as a no?
Thanks,

if there was a subskin using traditional button locations, why would they call the skinpack "Unorthodox"? i think you folks are missing the entire concept of the pack. it's called "Unorthodox' for a reason. you should have guaged from the name of the pack and by viewing screenshots that the thought of tradtional skins never entered the equation. these skins are great examples of things that can be done by creative skinners within the windowblinds realm. each of these skins is great in its own way.

"Unorthodox" is not synonymous with "nonstandard button locations." Even if that were the case, it's not beyond the bounds of common sense to include "Orthodox" substyles with an "Unorthodox" skinpack. It's just a matter of how many of them you want to sell.
on Dec 12, 2004
It defeats the point of creating an unusual set of skins though, as we'd be getting sales on the basis of them having standard versions, which people would be more inclined to use. Making 'regular' sub skins would negate the need to even make the Unorthodox versions.

One thing that becomes painfully obvious, now that I have one of them ultra-crisp TFT screens, is that WindowBlinds really needs to have alpha shaded borders implemented. Those rounded edges look plain nasty.

Maybe you should have gone for a thicker black edge instead of trying to cut it off a close to the gradient as possible.
