My home is not a place, it is people.

Uh...hmmm. It would appear that our house has now closed, and except for some minor details that albatross is no longer around my neck. Hmm. Not sure how to feel about this. Why hasn't the President of the USA gotten on TV to make an announcement? Why hasn't a national holiday been declared? Why haven't they called for 24 hours of peace in the middle east to commemorate this moment?

I must say, there is a part of me that NEVER wants to buy another house again. That house was nothing but a nightmare, and we didn't even live there most of the time!

But, we'll probably be putting money down on a new one this weekend. Why? Because I am a glutton for punishment.

We celebrated last night for the closing of the house, but I didn't want to make any announcement until we had money in the bank, and now we do. Oh yes. Money in the bank. It will only be there a little while, but it's nice to have it. I wonder if the bank will let me go and visit the money in person? Perhaps let me fondle it and roll in it a little before I must kiss it all goodbye. Goodbye money! Goodbye house! Goodbye jackass realtors (who seem to have "forgotten" that our listing agreement says they get paid 5%, and the escrow company wrote them checks for 6%. We'll be fixing that ASAP - with a lawyer if necessary).

Oddly enough I got my car back today, and it sounds better than it has since it was new. Paul and I have met some very generous, kind and talented people here. Thank you Karmagirl and significant other (who may or may not have a Joeuser name)!

Too many good things have happened today. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep. Goodnight.

Thank God. Or whatever higher power you feel had a hand in this. Because the way you described it, it sounded like there was no way the house was going to close short of a miracle. Congrats!

I doubt that you'll have the same problems with the colonial palace. Seriously.

So, when you're painting the JQ & JB room in your colonial palace... I fancy a nice greenish color on the walls. JB? Any thoughts?

Seriously - CONGRATULATIONS!!! What a huge huge relief! Good luck to you in the future and I hope it doesn't take long to recover from the stress of this whole ordeal. Take a bubble bath and celebrate!
